ZumoDrive is the next killer app

ZumoDrive is the next killer app, if you ask me. What is does seems simple to the user, but behind the scenes there's been some serious coding going on. ZumoDrive is an online storage that shows up on your computer as another drive letter, Z: as a default. It's storage in the cloud, so to speak. The interface is intuitive, and just plain works. I'm impressed, and over the years I've seen a lot of crappy software. These guys know what they're doing.

Once your account is set up, which is very easy by the way, you can add folders or files from your PC to your ZumoDrive. Then, you can install ZumoDrive on another computer, log in, and see all of your stuff. Very cool. I won't go into all of the details, but just list a couple of the cool features. The uploading/downloading happens in the background, and there's a slider switch for how fast the transfers should go, so you can choose for it to not suck up too much bandwidth if that's important to you. You can store music files on there, and stream them from your computer(s) or even an iPhone. There are rumors of a ZumoDrive app for the Android OS too, which would be great, because that's the type of smart phone I'll be getting soon.

This month, HP announced it'll be using ZumoDrive on it's netbook PC's. It's a great storage solution for small devices because you don't need a lot of of local hard drive space. So far I've installed it on Vista, Windows 7, Windows XP, and Ubuntu 9.10. You know what? Not buggy at all. This software rocks. They give you 2GB for free, but in order to get past the initial 1GB limit, you have to complete some tutorials in the "Dojo", which is brilliant. That way you get to learn how to use the product. There are pay-plans if you need more storage than 2GB. I've literally been telling everybody about ZumoDrive. It rocks!

Movie Weekend - Sherlock Holmes & Avatar

What a weekend! Stephanie and I went to see two movies. Sherlock Holmes was very entertaining...makes me want to read the books now. And Avatar...whoa baby! We saw it in IMAX 3-D. Way cool. We'll probably see it again!
